Animal Shootings . . .

Two animal shootings recently by New England wildlife officers are worth noting:

bulletA 1,000 + lb. moose had been hit by a car and was wandering around dazed in traffic on a heavily traveled highway.  Wildlife officers shot the moose in the neck from behind so that the impact was towards his brain.  The moose collapsed dead with this single shot.  There was no exit wound.
bulletA 300 + lb. black bear was harassing an urban neighborhood. As the bear faced them, wildlife officers shot the bear in the chest and killed it with a single shot.  Again, no exit wound.

In both cases, officers praised the Polyshok 12 gauge round for allowing them to kill a large animal with a single shot, and for the ability to take the shots in traffic and in an urban area without fear of collateral damage.
